Are you worried about your child’s emotional well-being?

  • Have you noticed that your child frequently worries, gets upset easily, is often irritable, or has difficulty calming down once they are upset?

  • Does your child complain about experiencing body aches, including headaches, chest pain, and stomach aches, and medical professionals have determined that there are no underlying medical issues that may cause these experiences?

  • Does your child seem less interested in spending time with family members and friends and no longer seems to enjoy engaging in activities they used to like?

  • Has your child reported experiencing “bad dreams” or nightmares?

As a parent, you want the best for your child, and watching your child struggle emotionally, socially, or academically can be a very difficult and painful experience. You may experience feelings of frustration, shame, guilt, or helplessness, as you’re not quite sure how to help your child. The whole family can be impacted by children who are experiencing difficulty with managing anxiety, traumatic experiences, or major stressors/changes. It is not uncommon in these situations for parents to feel emotionally depleted and disconnected from their child.

At Meadow Grove Counseling, LLC my goal is to provide a supportive and compassionate environment to you and your family. Child therapy can be effective in supporting children in their efforts of learning to express themselves in healthier ways and work through what has been troubling them at their own pace. Working in partnership with you is just as crucial as your child’s participation in individual therapy sessions. We will collaborate to gain more clarity about what may be causing your child’s current struggles. We will explore ways of integrating the new insight and you will learn specific tools and strategies that are individualized and based on your child’s needs to promote your efforts of supporting your child at home.

Although the primary approach to trauma and anxiety therapy for children ages 3-12 at Meadow Grove Counseling, LLC is Child-Centered Play Therapy, additional approaches may be integrated, depending on your child’s needs and your family’s hopes for therapy.
